'Tis the Season for holiday music, pics with Santa, hot chocolate, and Holiday light displays! Visit the Smithsonian's National Zoo in NW DC to see the annual holiday light display, the ZooLights. Now through January 1st and open daily from 5 - 9 pm (the Zoo is also open for regular visits and special events)... follow the snowflake path, find the Gingerbread Village, indulge in seasonal treats (gingerbread, hot chocolate, eggnog, holiday cookies ... roast your own s'mores at the Conservation Pavillion), see a performance and watch animals come to life as laser lights.

There will also be an opportunity to do some holiday shopping December 7, 8, and 9 when the Grump Holiday Market sets up shop at the National Zoo.

The event is free for all but there is a $25 flat rate for parking if you don't arrive via Metro or other means of transportation. Military Night is scheduled for Thursday December 13th - active duty and veterans can save 10 or 15 % on an annual membership (depending on membership level) when they sign up that day.

The Zoo lights look fun Andrea Bedard. Believe it for night we have a lighted boat parade in the desert city of Tempe Arizona (at the Town Lake) in our Things To Do In Arizona December 2018

For all the times I've been to D.C., I've never gone to the Smithsonian National Zoo. Can't hardly believe that. But what a treat for those who can go in December. I would love to see this, Andrea.

Yes, yes we are Grant! There is so much to do in this area, it's hard to choose!

A lighted boat parade sounds lovely Jeff!

That is not that hard to believe Elizabeth since the Zoo is not downtown where the National Mall and all the museums are. But it's definitely worth a visit!

Between the Washington DC Metro and the Baltimore Metro there is no shortage of Holiday events Sharon & Bruce! And some are free.
