Today Was A Pay-It-Forward Day!
Pay it forward is such a simple concept yet this very simple concept seems to be lost in society today. Selfish acts are the basis for the news each and every day. What happened to hearing about the good things in life. The kindness of strangers, helping one another with no thought of a return to the giver. I am grateful that I have the ability to find the silver lining and that I am able to pay it forward to help others.
Finding a smile when it seems as if there is nothing to smile about should be a daily mission for everyone. Smiles are contagious…I found one when I was shopping for my Toys-For-Tots donation, and had an even bigger one on my face when I dropped off the toys. Seeing the number of boxes already collected and all of the people dropping off more. Knowing how many children were going to have smiles on their faces this Christmas because strangers took the time to put the needs of those children before their own...paying it forward.
Moving on to one of my many pet charities...Operation Kindness. My husband and I have adopted more dogs from this organization than I can count. Each year we continue to pay it forward with regular contributions to help those dogs and cats still waiting for their "furever home". I can't adopt every dog in need, but I can help feed and keep healthy a whole bunch of them!
And where would we be without our Heroes? I pay it forward every chance that I get with our military. A simple Thank You to those in uniform always brings a smile. And we have been giving members of the Wounded Warrior Project for many years. Knowing our monthly donation is helping our Heroes in their daily lives...simply no better feeling.
I am grateful that we have the ability to bring joy to others and thus to
ourselves. Every day we can brighten someone’s life with something as
simple as a smile. My smile is broader each time I donate my time
or make a contribution to those who need a helping hand.
