Number one rule: You have to like people! These are not mere words but an underlying action that propels your success. If people bother you, this is a bad sign. Do not doubt this and it is wise to respect it while you are at it. It doesn't mean to tolerate people either. You must be willing to serve as in customer serving and like it for their sake then yours. Fail here and blame propelled by excuses will be at your door
When dealing with the public at large which is a mixed bag of beliefs, actions & responses & while we cannot control them we can however support their visiting by being consistent and available. Being reachable is no myth but necessary to success long & short term. You are a slave of your business not the other way around.
Whatever you are selling or whatever service you are providing is your promise which must be kept, honored and maintained during your business hours. Fail here and the kiss of death is alerted and will visit with you soon. Letting someone down called a slight is very personal and hurtful. Human nature will not visit with this again
A business is now operating as a pseudo person not unlike an artificial intelligence. You or your employee, voice mail or greeting is the front lines and behind that is your mission statement, purpose and business model. Not only will your customer base feed your success but they do two other valuable services for you!

People like to talk! They don't need a reason but if you want to give them one you certainly can. If someone gets what is represented they become satisfied and support your operation not only by being a frequent customer but by speaking well of you to others. The opposite is deadly true too! Why are we doing this? What is our pay-off? If it is an ego driven dynamic put yourself on notice that not everyone agrees with your dream-world. If it is to make money, be careful not to activate scarcity to make that abundance. If to have something to do, something else will come along and take you with it. To give back? To become wealthy? To do it because you can...all of these need to be examined in the light of reality
Know yourself especially where you are weak. All during this start-up you will have a chance to see what you really believe in or don't and just how well you respond or don't and knowing yourself and your limitations can prove to be very valuable.
