.You want your Evergreen ...Christmas stay as fresh as possible as long as possible and not have needles all over the floor and bareChristmas tree

before you are ready to take the tree down.  There are a number of "recipes" that are suggested to preserve your tree...choose the one that you feel will work best for you.

   1 gallon of water

     4 Teaspoons of liquid bleach
2 Cups of light corn syrup
   4 Teaspoons of vinegar
You can store this (less the bleach which you can add as you add it to the Tree) in the fridge.
REcipe #2
  1 gallon of water
1 can of white soda (not diet)
   SPlash of bleach

(This is one my Mom used for cut flowers as well)

1 Gallon of Water .  4 teaspoons of Sugar and 1 copper penny

tree evergreen    Keep your humidifier aware of the level of dryness of the tree if  have lights on your tree...and ENJOY !

Very interesting points in some places with this one! There’s a lot of maintenance that goes into getting a real tree. Merry Christmas!

Morning Sally.

I've heard of these before, what I still don't understand is, why add bleach to the mixture.

Adding aspirin to preserve flowers. Tree headaches. If cats slurp the water...under the apron, bleach and vinegar....blah. Nasty. Good post Sally K. & David L. Hanson !

Good morning Sally. Thanks for the tips! Have used 1 and 3 in the past. This year, even simpler, we have gone artificial! Enjoy your day!

I would have only kept it watered, but I can see how these recipes would likely be more effective.
