La Volpe ~ "Foodie" Friday 12/14/18

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker United Realtors® ~ 512.750.6899

The count down begins and many are out shopping and trying to make time for friends for quick get togethers. Its a busy time of the year so take a minute to make reservations as they are usually required. Are you hungry for Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere with a Southern flair? I have just the recommendation for you for this week-end!

LA VOLPE

Located in Austin's Central Business District, traditional Italian food is being blended with ultra-fresh ingredients and Southern flavors by executive chef Will Eason.  This latest Italian eatery in our city has a very impressive menu that showcases chef Eason's talent.

The interior has an upscale atmosphere with a blend of modern and contemporary design.  A lot of attention to detail was taken including a beautiful hand stenciled wall, intimate dining niches, exposed brick and beams, a vintage teardrop chandelier from Italy and an outdoor courtyard bountiful with olive trees.  The focal point of the restaurant is the bar with its dynamic floor-to-ceiling shelving featuring Texas and Italian wines, craft beers and handcrafted cocktails. Vintage Italian ties are even showcased in a custom built frame with the Italian phrase "legare uno su" on it - that translates to "tie one on".

A sampling of their menu....from the Morso (bites) menu - there's Chicken Liver Mousse with fried foccacia, marsala onion, pickled cucumber and clarified butter...Ciopinno with blue crab, P.E.I. mussel, gulf shrimp, black drum and saffron butter...and...Meatball and Mozzarella- house pulled mozzarella slices with arabiata and fried basil.   On the Piccolo (small plates) menu - there's Fried Calamari with graham cracker crust, fresno pepper, fried parsley and sweet tomato sauce...and...Scallop Crudo with bosc pear, feta cream, pork caramel, prosciutto crisp and fried mint.  The Pasta menu has Lasagna Bolognese with goat cheese, mozzarella, parmesan, spinach and ricotta...Grilled Duck Risotto with wild mushroom, cippolini and green apple port demi...and...Mushroom Pappardelle with chef's blend mushroom, micro green, mascarpone and white truffle oil.  The Grill menu has Rack of Lamb - Texas lamb, rosemary rub, balsamic demi and maldon...and HeartBrand Ribeye with akauushi ribeye and porcini compound butter.   Finish it all off with something from the Dessert menu...Gianduja Cake - a chocolate hazelnut cake with hojiblanco gelato, vincotto, hazelnut butter, olive oil powder and brandied cherries...Sweet Tea-ramisu with coriander lady fingers, spiced citrus mascarpone, white chocolate, sweet tea agro dulce and tea spice...or Sweet Potato Panna Cotta GF - ginger curd, pear sorbetto, bruleed pumpkin seeds, fried sage and brown sugar crumb.

You'll always get my attention, Dorie, with a restaurant with an Italian name. The fried calamari with graham cracker crust sounds amazing. The mushroom pappardelle got my attention, as well.
