So the fix it guy came to my home to get his downloaded connections into my obsolete Windows Machine that is no longer supported. I hate waiting on helpers, hate finding that any technology I have paid serious money for was designed to be obsolete. I have proprietary software that I bought that will not work on a Mac and can't be used on newer Windows systems either. I couldn't get online to get the drivers so hence the house call. He got it working and even got Foxfire so I could get online in a pinch.

I have an older Dell laptop that is useless too so he removed the hard-drive so I could discard it. There goes $1500 in the trash, along with an Epson printer that isn't reliable either. Progress is costly. Now I have machinery that when dumped will pollute the environment and be of no use to anyone. What's wrong with this picture...........everything.

Hi Sheila,
Technology can be wonderful but so frustrating when it doesn't work right or becomes obsolete. It sounds like the proprietary software has caused you the most trouble in a full transition to Mac, which is too bad because I'm sure it was expensive!
