Holiday Hint: Remember Your Host/Hostess !

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty 414-525-0563 57026-90 Broker

We have a closet in our house we call "The Secret Gift Shop".One just never knows what you will find there.  It is a collection of things that may have been on sale...would be appropriate for someone who enjoyed..., could be an added surprise for a buyer or seller.  There are a collection of gift bags, shred, tissue and trimmings as well. Present

We turn to the gift shop inventory when we are invited to someone's home and are in search of a host/hostess gift. No matter how informal the gathering, it required effort...to clean, cook and prepare for guests. My parents instilled this "tradition" of showing an attitude ofChristmas Basket.  I don't remember ever going to someone's house without a gift in hand.  It need not be a BIG thing...just something to show you appreciated the thoughtful invitation to their  home.  Some things we use are we enjoy going to the sample size section of places like World Market and designing a theme around things you find in that department.  You may know the host/hostess enjoys tea, coffee, a certain flavor...(chocolate ?), guest soaps and towels, coasters and napkins,  candles.....let your imagination be your guide.  Here is one that has a variety of kinds of tea with cookies...candy and mugs to thank the hosting family for their kind invitation to their home.

A little thanks is soooo appreciated...a good imagination exercise and fun to put together when you show your attitude of gratitude.

Good morning Sally K. & David L. Hanson ,

I was taught the same thing! Maybe our mothers were friends:). It's always fun to think of something to bring to a hostess/host who went out of their way to include you in some festivities!

HI Sally K. & David L. Hanson - This is a wonderful tradition that your parents instilled in you. In the west and southwest, we tend to bring a bottle of wine as a gift to the hosting party. I always try to make sure it is a special bottle and one of my favorites. I also bring custom vinegars and olive oil sets in fancy bottles.

Sally,

I was thought it is rude, uncouth, and downright ungrateful to be invited to someone's home, and not have a gift in hand...We too have a gift closet.  A

I have an assortment of gifts for just such occasions.  Now all I need is a closet for them.  That would make it a lot more organized and fun.  I don't have a closet.  :)

That reminds me that I need to pick up a little something for an event I'm attending on Friday.  My closet is running low because I don't shop as much as I used to, but I do have a section in my closet for the same kind of thing.
