The Belmont Manor, also known as the Gem of Elkridge, dates back to 1738 and is owned by the Howard County Government that purchased the manor house and its 68 acres in 2012 to ensure the stewardship of this magnificient building and grounds.
Belmont Manor is a popular venue for weddings and retreats and only open to the public during special events. One such event is the Holiday Open House during which visitors can explore Belmont on a self-guided tour, enjoy refreshments and period music while admiring the festively decorated rooms.
The first Holiday Open House was held last weekend but there is one more this season scheduled for December 16th, 2018 from 3 - 6 pm. This is a free event, hosted by the Howard County Conservancy. Visitors can also join historian Fred Dorsey for an on-site tour, visit the gift shop, and say hello to Belle, the Eastern Screech Owl who lives on the grounds of the historic Belmont Manor Estate.
"Join Belmont Manor and the Howard County Conservancy as they take a step back in time to celebrate the holidays while touring the ca. 1738 Belmont Manor."
