The largest all sports lake in Commerce Michigan are highly desirable because they are close to I-96. These lakes are close to M-5 too. It makes for an easier commute to and from work. If you don't know about commuting in the Oakland County lakes area let me explain a little a bit about it. There are lakes scattered all over the area. When early residents of Oakland County made the roads they curved around the lakes to get from one place to another. It is the same way today. Whether you head north or south, east or west many of the roads are two lane roads that curve around the lakes. Sometimes there is a lake on both sides of the road. Most of the roads in the lake area are still two lane roads because they can't be widened because of costs or the geography.
So the commute during the rush hours to and from work can be very congested. Especially when M-5 goes from 3 lanes to a one lane lakes area. That is why when there are lake homes and lakes in Commerce it because more desirable because it is so much easier to get to work. Especially if they work at Ford, or downtown Detroit.
Here are the 3 biggest all sports lakes in Commerce Michigan
Commerce Lake is actually North Commerce Lake and South Commerce Lake. There is a channel that connects both lakes. Not many people refer to the lake as north or south. Usually they just say Commerce Lake.
Lake Sherwood is a man made lake not a glacial lake. It is not very deep. Only about 12 feet deep and it is shallower in other spots. Lake Sherwood has many canals and canal front homes. I would call Lake Sherwood is a subdivision lake. What I mean by that is the homes on the lake are similar, they are mainly brick homes with attached garages. It's like they dropped a lake in the middle of a subdivision in Plymouth, or Troy.
