Easy to make Dog Biscuits

It's Christmas time, which means my dogs get their yearly homemade treats!
During this season when we go visiting friends who have dogs, their puppies get a treat too!

Ingredients:

3 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup dry non-fat milk
1 1/4 cups water
1/3 cup peanut butter
1 large egg
1/2 tsp garlic powder

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.

Mix all the dry ingredients in one large bowl. Blend all the wet ingredients in another bowl until smooth, then add to dry ingredients.

Roll the stiff dough into 1/2 inch thickness on floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. I used crescent moons, that's as close as I can get to a fire hydrant in my arsenal of cookie cutters!

Place on a baking sheet for 1 1/2 hours. For crispier biscuits, bake an additional 30 minutes. Store in an air-tight container.

Makes about 3 dozen.

This recipe responds well to altering.
I've substituted 1 cup of cornmeal for a cup of flour. Use chunky or creamy peanut butter to your dog's pallet.
