Quotes from "It's a Wonderful Life;" & " Tom Sawyer"

IT IS A WONDERFUL LIFE TO BE IN REAL ESTATE

When you are in real estate, it is a "Wonderful Life!" Many people come into your life throughout your career. And just like a good book, every chapter needs editing and proofreading. There are different episodes, characters, locations, stories, scenarios, situations, and challenges. Every successful transaction has a definite and irrefutable beginning, middle, and end. But somewhere in between is never really clear as to when or if it will really close and come to an end. One man's ending is another person's beginning. When it comes to the business of real estate, everyone touches the lives of others.

CLARENCE: Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?

FROM THE BOOK OF TOM SAWYER BY MARK TWAIN: Do the right thing it will gratify some people and astonish the rest.

With all the training and classes an agent attends, along with education, (both mandatory and continuous education), including working towards a designation, it really is all about relationship building, understanding people, listening, remembering, writing things down, not letting anything slip through the cracks, being truthful, and being the very best you can be by providing best practices. When it comes to the business of successful real estate transactions, it really is a wonderful life because relationships continue to build. The involvement with many people who come into our lives at different times is quite amazing. People need others who they can trust, who understands the business, and understands the definition of integrity.

CLARENCE: Remember, George, no man is a failure who has friends.

FROM THE BOOK OF TOM SAWYER BY MARK TWAIN: A man's character may be learned from the adjectives which he habitually uses in conversation.

Life isn't easy. People are forever changing. Nobody stays the same. This is true for all of us, including our clients. Even when clients are repeaters, they are older and wiser, more educated when it comes to home sales, financing changes, there is a lot more on people's plates, humans are more or less tech savvy, even circumstances change. Having a definitive plan and goal to meet what others need means working harder, smarter, and more proficient with accuracy. There is no excuse for not staying current with the market, technology or the changes in the industry. Blame nobody except yourself.

GEORGE BAILY: Dear Father in heaven, I'm not a praying man, but if you're up there and you can hear me?

FROM THE BOOK OF TOM SAWYER BY MARK TWAIN: Thunder is good, thunder is impressive; but it is lightening that does the work.

FROM THE AUTHOR OF THIS STORY:  Love everyone. Not in the context of intimacy, but in fairness, sincerity, and in the spirit of friendship. Be there for others with authenticity and always be honest. Merry Christmas to all.

I think about the hole left in the fabric of other peoples' lives when someone is gone.  Thanks for the post - it is a lot to think about over the holiday season

Lise Howe - The holiday season is the time for deeper reflection. Yes. I would agree, with your statement about the hole. I don't like the idea of making New Year's resolutions around self-improvement that is self-centered, involving outer beauty, attractiveness, or luxurious things, and more wealth. I think it's about putting things into perspective and creating positive changes and results into the lives of those who trust us to do the right thing. We are put on this earth to help others. That is our purpose.

Barbara Todaro - The impact one man or woman can have on others, especially a nation is monumental and exhausting to the immediate family members. It tugs on the heartstrings of the family and those closest to them. In the spirit of George H. W. Bush it spans the spectrum of WWII until now. In just shy of 100 years, a lot transpired. The pages of history were written...

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR - It took time for me to write my AR composition based on the movie classic, "It's a Wonderful Life." Actually, I didn't even go to bed and now I see it's 7:04 a.m. Thank you, for acknowledging it was sincerely written. I to write from my heart.

Michael Jacobs  - I greatly appreciate your comments about my creative writing skills. I want to move people with my stories and be appreciated, not have someone steal my work right out from under me or say they like it, when they don't. You are always complimentary when you believe it's good writing and that helps me more than you realize. It is because of people like you I feel like I'm earning my wings to write better or make continuous improvements.

I think we all have a responsibility to live a life of excellence in terms of our potential as a human being. To me, it's all about the way you treat others - and yourself. Respect and kindness to ourselves first - and then freely giving it to others. Gracious, kind, compassionate, and trust worthy - those are traits worth developing.
