Why December is the BEST Month For Your Business

Happy December!

Did you know that this is the absolute BEST month for your business?

Yes, even though in many parts of the country it’s cold and grey. The real estate market in your area may be especially slow.

So how can it possibly be the best month for your business?

There are two key reasons. Here they are!

It’s Time to Plan For Future Success

Success in 2019 won’t just happen on its own. You have to plan for it and know exactly how you’re going to make it work.

December is the PERFECT time to do that. If the market is slow in your area, use the extra time to plan for creative marketing strategies! If the market is still moving well, take advantage of the chance to keep your marketing consistent.

A lot of business owners have great success by planning 90 days at a time. Planning for a whole year is overwhelming, and no one knows what’s going to happen a year from now anyway.

Instead, just plan how things are going to go for first quarter. What are your SMART goals for January – March? How can you break that down into weekly goals?

Once you have weekly goals for 1Q, you’ll be ready to start January with confidence and momentum. All because you took the time to plan in December!

December is the Perfect Time to Get Your Marketing

A major part of your 1Q plan will be the marketing strategies you will use during that time. You should consistently send farming postcards, prepare to do pop bys, and more.

Those efforts require supplies. And December is the PERFECT time to buy those elements.

Because it’s your last chance to make purchases that you can write off on your taxes! Stock up on seasonal farming postcards, get new business cards, and much more.

Not only will those marketing materials set you up for success in the new year, they’ll help you pay far less in April when taxes are due.

It’s an absolute win-win, and December is the BEST time to do it!

This is Not a “Slow Season”

I definitely hope you take time to spend with family and friends this holiday season. However, don’t make the mistake of telling yourself that this is a “slow season” and you don’t have much to do.

The truth is that even if your local market is slow, you have a lot to do. Set up your marketing plan, get your door hangers and postcards, and plan out your weekly goals for 1Q. Then, write off all your purchases on your taxes next year!

You’ll be amazed how much more ready you’ll be for the “busy season” when you take these steps now. This isn’t the time to hibernate – get planning!

Excellent post. Always use December and possibly November as a time to re consider your  business plan. I personally devote about 2-4 hours each day for this process because January is go time.

Thankfully I've already written my business plan for next year, spoken with my CPA about taxes, and working on client files because once again - this is a busy December.  Typically, December is a slower month for sales, but the last 2 years in a row, December has been busy.  Your list is a great one for many to consider plans for next year!
