Why I Love the Snow

Real Estate Agent with Vision Quest Realty WV0026375

Like most of the East Coast, Lewisburg, WV got the first big snowfall. We had 15 to 18" of snow. I love to sit at the window and watch the snow fall. It is such a warm and peaceful feeling.

Watching the snow fall 2018

Zeke, my chocolate lab, and I were out taking our walk in the snow yesterday morning. The feeling of being outside in the snow watching the snowflakes fall and feeling like you are the only person enjoying the moment is so wonderful. Each snowflake is a gem!

Zeke Snowfall 2018

There's just something beautiful about walking in snow that nobody else has walked on. It makes you believe you're special.  The snow was falling so fast and there was a grey hue all around us.  Today, the sun is shining  and the snow is sparkling like a million little suns. The snow beautifies everything it covers.

The below quotes remind me of why I love the snow....

“ Snow falling soundlessly in the middle of the night will always fill my heart with sweet clarity." -- Novala Takemoto

“Snow isn’t just pretty. It also cleanses our world and our senses, not just of the soot and grime of a mining town, but also of a kind of weary familiarity, a taken-for-granted quality to which our eyes are all too susceptible.” - John Burnside

“Snow brings a special quality with it—the power to stop life as you know it dead in its tracks.” - Nancy Hatch Woodward

“To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake, it is necessary to stand out in the cold.” - Aristotle

“I love snow for the same reason I love Christmas. It brings people together while time stands still.” --Rachel Cohn

"Advice is like snow - the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind." -- Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Zeke enjoys the snow and loves to roll in it

What I love about the snow is the beauty and tranquility of the snow ... it warms my heart and makes me happy!  If you have a nice fresh snowfall, enjoy the moment!

I love your photos and your quotes, especially the Aristotle one.

Walking in the snow, while it's snowing is magical. It's quiet, peaceful, beautiful... Shoveling it, not so much!

Hi Rebecca Gaujot, Realtor® - I agree with everything you wrote. I love the snow and it does feel peaceful to watch it fall. I also like that fact that no matter how much we get it is usually gone in 1 day. Most of the time it evaporates because of our low humidity. I love Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI 's comments and agree.

Wow, that is a lot of snow!  It does look beautiful, but cold at the same time, so I am perfectly fine with enjoying it through your pictures!

Gorgeous pictures, lovely quotes, Rebecca. I enjoyed them and fortunately from a distance... I don't mind seeing the snow fall and enjoy the first snow fall... but that enjoyment is always very short-lived for me!

It does look beautiful, Rebecca.  I do miss the beauty of a fresh snowfall and the white wonderland.  I don't miss all the days of shoveling and cleaning up the mess.

Sacramento rarely if ever experiences snow.  I remember as a child feeling deprived because we didn't have the scenes presented on Christmas cards, which had it.  But, I don't miss shoveling it.

Hi Rebecca,

I enjoyed reading your essay about the snow. I love snow, too. It always exhilarates me, especially if I am on a sunny day among the pine trees.

Hi Rebecca,  I always enjoy seeing photos of Zeke.  He is one handsome dog!

The Aristotle quote really resonates with me:

“To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake, it is necessary to stand out in the cold.”

You are special even without walking in snow no one else has walked on.
