Riding the Fun Wave.
There has been much industry chatter about cyclical patterns and such lately. Some days I'd like to put my fingers in my ears and go, "La la la la la la" and pretend to not hear and go about business but it is not possible.
When will it happen again, who knows?
Those of us that have experienced a market downturn understand the need to pay attention to trends and subtle nuances in the real estate market. Moving business forward means learning, adapting, adjusting.
Agents in the last economic downturn, learned new business practices and standards. Tenacity and patience were a must. They had a clear advantage over some who surely lost sight when the money wasn't quick.
Those new to the industry see an opportunity to ride the 'fun wave' of an up real estate market. Many will be phased out when the market shifts once again. Seasoned agents are more prepared to stay the course.
Successful positioning in the market place means:
- Embracing change
- Getting out of the comfort zone
- Stretching that learning muscle
The only fun wave to ride is at the amusement park or on a board hanging ten, not in business. You can get carried away and go under way fast with no recovery!
