Throwback Thursday: NOT a Smart Phone

Touchtone phone

Recognize this? Come on now, think waaaayyyy back. You'll remember if you try hard. It came after the rotary dial phones.

We were working on cleaning out the garage this past weekend (still have lots to do) and stumbled across this...among other stuff we don't need and didn't even know we had. Sound familiar?

Jeff,

As tedious as it may be when contemplating to clean out stuff, I love getting rid of things we do not really use today...like my french bread pans...no making that anymore these day...we have the Baker's Table.  You are inspiring me!  A

Jeff I remember the not only the phone in the picture, but I also remember the rotary dial phones, and the princes style phones.

I actually think that is a smart phone because when people had them they actually communicated and you.weren't tied to it like a smartphone. There was actually life outside of your phone.

As George mentions, I hardly remember the rotary dial phones. These were high-tech when they came out.

That’s a pretty fancy one with that extra column of buttons.  Oh, I see, it is an AT&T 100!

Hi Ron and Alexandra

Tedious indeed. NOT a pleasant task at all and we should have been more diligent about it since we have a ton of stuff we can donate and share with others. And some simply needs to get trashed. Good luck!

Hi Maria Sapio

I suspect many of us of a certain age remember these! Yep I remember having a black one, too. Seems to me there were Princess phones in a number of colors! Just like today!!  LOL

I remember the ones with dials that went click-click-click-click. You could tell what number someone dialed by the numbers of clicks you heard.

And I remember the long cords so you could take a call in another room. Haha.

I wonder how many of those are still in use today, I doubt that everyone has gone solely to a cell phone.

Check out the ones that sold on eBay. If you still have it, it could net you a couple trips to Starbucks.
