Happy Holidays! - The West Lawn at The University of Virginia
This image, which was provided by the Alumni Association at the University of Virginia, brings back fond memories of my years as a student at The University. I was there for undergraduate and law school. The scene is the West Lawn, facing the Rotunda. All of this was conceived and designed by Thomas Jefferson.
The cornerstone for the first structure on the West Lawn was laid on October 6, 1817. Jefferson, Madison and Monroe were present.
One of my experiences as a student was a chance to live on the Lawn, at 21 West Lawn which is located on the left side of this photograph. When you are in Virginia, include a tour of The University in your plans. You will also want to visit Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello.
By the way, there are several excellent wineries in the area to add some moments of extra pleasure to your visit.
Enjoy the holidays with your camera in hand.
