"I've come to realize I can trust myself. I have survived so much and I will survive whatever is coming next."
-Becka
I had a proud moment yesterday morning when I opened up Facebook and saw a post by one of my granddaughters.
The question was "What Did You Come To Realize in 2018?" Her answer brought tears to my eyes and it got me to thinking how important her realization is to succeed in life. I'm so glad she has been able to reach this point so early in her life. Besides being wise, she has beauty going for her.
What did you come to realize in 2018 and how will that help you in the future?
Change is something you can depend on and adapting is important. This isn't new but each passing year reminds of that time when you no longer breathe and change stops.

Carol you should be very proud of her. It would be great if we all could come to that realization.

While I have known for a long time that control can be an illusive thing, which is transitory at best. It was driven home in 2018. I also learned that control also equates to responsibility and you may not want it!

Hi George Souto ,
Some people never do which is sad for them. Life has so much potential when we can trust ourselves.
Hi Myrl Jeffcoat ,
Having control isn't always all it's cracked up to be, is it? Like the saying goes, be careful what you wish for. You may just get it... and then realize you don't really want it.
And, thanks so much for the Feature in the Old Farts Club! Always appreciate that.
Hi Kathy Streib ,
We have to change and adapt, don't we? We have to stay true to our values but also have to be able to adapt to the realities of change around us. We must embrace change and figure out how to utilize it for the good of ourselves and those we care about.
Hi Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS ,
It was an important realization for Becka. I pray it sticks!
Thank you, Sheri Sperry - MCNE® . Yes she it. She is currently living in Germany with her husband and I'm sure faces new challenges every day. It's been a good experience for her, though. We grow through facing challenges.
It is confounding how much misery some of us can experience and still remain standing tall and walking like nothing happened. We are so much stronger than we give ourselves credit for. You hear people say things like, "Oh, I would never survive that," and I think to myself, oh, yes, you will.

What a beautiful and wise young woman Becka is, Carol. I know you're proud as proud can be of her - and rightfully so!
As for the question - it's something I need to ponder...just like choosing a favorite quote - I have SO many of them! LOL

Hi Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents
So true! When my husband was ill people would often ask me how I do it. I never really gave it a thought. You just do what ya gotta do in any given moment. We all have our burdens. It's how we handle them that determines whether we learn and grow and decide to be happy. The changes in Becka have been amazing and I'm very proud of her.
Hi Debe Maxwell, CRS ,
Yes, I'm very proud of her. Many of her challenges, of course, were of her own doing but the changes she has made are amazing! When I saw her this summer I was so pleased.
