Brightly Colored Kitchen Appliances - Would You Want One from Santa?

By
Industry Observer with Nature As Neighbors

In a world of black and white, and mostly stainless, we've noticed a new trend developing in kitchen design - the return of colored appliances. Beach themed turquoise, cottage blue, seaglass green, mint julep, emerald, sunny yellows, bright orange, and even purples are popping up from a variety of companies.

A beautiful red enamel stove has always made us smile, but now you can choose from a wide variety of shades from bright red, to an industrial-themed red, and Viking has a new line in warm, rustic red. It's pictured in the second photo below. We think it's warm and inviting.

Although, we'd worry about the longevity of a kitchen with all appliances in a custom color. And, as REALTORS®, we know your favorite beachy turquoise will likely narrow the pool of buyers if you decide to sell.

Therefore, we'd likely avoid outfitting an entire kitchen with appliances in an unusual color. What if the company discontinues the line and your dishwasher quits? Exactly.  However, we think a statement stove is be a great way to add a touch of color and personality to your kitchen.

These two, one in purple, and one in more subdued plum, might appeal to my purple loving friends in the Rain - Ron and Alexandra Seigel (Alexandra) Kathy Streib, and Sally K. & David L. Hanson (Sally).  What do you think ladies? Would you want Santa to bring you one?

Perhaps, pretty in pink is more your style. We wonder if our pal Nina Hollander will like this one.

We know this bright yellow, while cheery, is not one we'd consider in our home.

Personally, we're drawn to the more subdued colors. Here's an example we both really appreciate - we think it's classic and elegant, and would be at home in a gray and white kitchen with marble counter tops.

It will be fun to see if more homeowners, and builders, start using more imagination, and color, in the kitchen in 2019.  If you're interested in seeing some of the other colors available, here are some links. In the meantime, if you're dreaming of something other than a white Christmas in the kitchen, we hope Santa delivers your favorite color.

Love the colors!  I think red would be a popular pick.  I'll take a new gas range in any color at this point.

Those are great pictures, Debb. I'm with you, liking the more subdued colors. The last one, in particular, is great. You make a great point about perhaps choosing one appliance only as a statement piece.

Personally, I'd go for cobalt blue or that light gray model - very classy.  I agree with you about the breaking down part; just the stove thank you!  Great post!

My daughter is choosing appliances for her brand new home scheduled to be finished in January. She used to work for a rich gentleman who had a $50,000 stove similar to one in the above pictures. This article was fun to share with her since she is visiting for the holiday. Thanks for sharing.

I've seen a few red appliances but not other colors until a few days ago. When I went to Tradewinds to get a keypad for my garage, they had an enormous aqua free standing stove in the lobby, which I instantly coveted, even though I do not really cook.

Things certainly are brightening up in the world of appliance colors. Can't say I have seen too much here yet but no doubt it's changing. Guess you have to be careful if you are planning to sell and keep things a bit more neutral. What next?

Thanks for all the photos!  I would love to have an upscale stove! In the right kitchen--it really pops. I"m with you--make it one appliance, like the stove, leave the rest more neutral

I love the trend toward colored appliances, though more likely to see them on washers/dryers so far.

Red would definetly be my choice for kitchen appliances.

For all the reasons you stated, I would have to be rich to go colors. I would LOVE to have such a fun, bright, colorful kitchen but my finances keep me practical. LOL

Yes! Yes! Yes! Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - Some time ago, I also wrote a blog post about these wonderful new products but my blog post wasn't as well-written as yours. I guess, my readers weren't ready for them then. I love the new innovative colors and kitchens. You did an excellent job! I hope yours gets featured!

I recently did a complete gut reno on my kitchen - and it was fun to consider the options but in the end, I stayed with stainless for my appliances.  I do love the look of the rustic red Viking though...

I like some of these.  Though I would like to see a system where one could easily change the faceplates and thus the colors as needed.

Nice colors Debb.  No I would stick with a more traditional color.

I wonder in the future if these colorful appliances will become the frowned upon appliances that turn future buyers off like the avocado and gold ones did in the past (after their heyday)? LOL.

Good afternoon Debb and Bernie - well I guess it depends on the color.  I still remember the avacado of the 1970s.
