The #1 complaint about social media I hear is "I don't care what these people ate for dinner last night". News flash, nobody does. It's not just you that finds it annoying. On Social Media, most people will post with the objective to talk about themselves. The reason you don't care about their posts coincidentally, is because it is not about you.
How do we use that knowledge to create engaging posting content for social media? Make it not about you! Make it about the community!
If you MUST brag about something on social media, then involve the community in that post!
1. Make Your Succes the Community's Success
When flaunting your wins, always be thankful about who helped you get there. Your clients, the community, your friends, your family, or anybody that supports you in general. Being publicly thankful can garner more likes than ignores.
2. Turn Your Personal Posts into Community Posts
If you must absolutely post a photo of your food, then involve the community! Mention the local businesses that helped get that food on the plate. You can get more eyeballs if that business shares your post to their page. Ask a question about the picture. "I am trying this new meatball sandwich at the mom and pop shop, does anybody else have any recommendations?" Asking a question is a invite to get social media users to start talking about themselves.
3. Share Other People's Successes
Again, your success is their success. Be genuinely happy when people have acheived something great. Share a congratulatory post for your clients on their new home. Post about an award that your lender, inspector, or interior designer has won. Talking about other people can provoke people to start talking with you.
