People Are Kind

'Generally,

I Believe Most People Are Kind

People Are Kind

I ponder.

Yeah, I ponder quite frequently.

Recently, Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP wrote an ActiveRain post 'Etiquette and Comments on Social Media'.  I pondered her thoughtful post.  My mind wandered a bit too.  Pondering goes hand-in-hand with wandering I might add.  Toss in some wondering into this mixed salad.  Pondering and wandering and wondering.  I digress.  And that may have occurred while commenting on Patricia's post.  Admittedly, my comment on Patricia's post may have gone off-track too.  It happens.  But there is a point.  Really there is.  Earlier that day I read an editorial which spoke to me in much the same language as Patricia's words.

A quote came to mind:

"Be kind whenver possible.

It's always possible."

This quote(Dalai Lama) is ideal for Carol Williams' December Challenge on ActiveRain "What Inspires You".  I don't believe the quote is naive.  And it is not so simple.  And if it was so simple everyone would be practicing it.  Everywhere.  Anytime.  You and me.  Friends and Family.  Neighbors and Co-workers.  Other people.  In other countries.  In our own country.  You get the idea.  Right? This is not a resolution.  Although it is personal. It starts with me. Each of us.  You and me.

It is a direction.  Each day.  You know maybe it is quite simple afterall.

You never know what can happen. A quote.  An inspiration.  When you ponder.

Generally,

I Believe Most People Are Kind

Oh, my dear Michael Jacobs - I am so happy to see that you wrote a post and that it is featured ... we deserved too!

It is a practice.  I practice too. Meditation helps me to be in alignment with who I want to be. Every now and then I fall off and into my default mode and feel frustrated by how other people are in the world.  Making sure my energy does not lower to the unkind, phony bologna remains part of my practice.

I seek to be kind knowing that "like attracts like" and expect that kindness will always find me as well. Thankfully, I have found it to be true, with a few exceptions - and those are usually people who somehow "broken souls" who take out their life frustrations on others, so I try to have compassion on them.

There is much anger and bullying around us but like Mrs Rogers reminded Fred, be a kind helper. Look for the helpers which is the ultimate gesture of kindness. You and I can make a difference. It is a choice. The hungry, angry, lonely and tired need extra kindness and understanding not abuse. Great point to er ... ponder as we wander into the new year Michael Jacobs and Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP

Michael Jacobs I continue to hope to find the level of optimism you have, but each day as I witness the lack of respect at even the most minute levels I wonder. All I can say is "Please keep the faith for us!"

I agree people are usually kind.  When they aren't  I always try to think there may be a reason (having a bad day, someone close just died, family problems etc).  Sometimes a kind word from a stranger instead of an unkind word may just change their day or make it a bit better.  They may feel better from a kind word, I undoubtedly would feel bad from making a snarky comment.

I remember this when I get an unsolicited phone call from a sales person.  I always try to be kind--he or she is just doing a job, trying to make a living.  Instead of getting upset or irritated at the intrusion, I politely say I'm not interested. Same in dealing with retail clerks--I try to brighten their day a bit with some conversation.

Thanks for the post Michael and I agree with you most people ARE kind! The funny this is how I arrived to that conclusion.....from door knocking of all things! lol Started in my youth door knocking for newspaper subscriptions, literally thousands and thousands of doors, in every kind of neighborhood, economically and racially. As a door knocker you got several reasons people might treat you poorly, you're a stranger, you are not invited, you come unannounced, you might not speak the same language, it's often dark if it's wintertime, it's often at the dinner hour AND....you're asking for money. Yet, after thousands of doors I discovered most peope ARE kind!!!

OK Michael, I will have to stop drinking coffee...

Sometimes I get harsh when super caffeinated.  And it can get ugly.

SO, good post for those of us who need to work on kindness!  Thank you

What can we do for you today?

Thank you for sharing this post as we enter the new year of 2019... Yes kindness is important... although we see so much of the time kindness is not the case.

The factor of kindness can start with the man or women in the mirror.

Many blessings as the new year starts. A fresh start and a new path.

You know...

I found myself saying "people suck" far too often this past year. Hoping this post helps me to change that in the coming year. LOL

Michael, in watching the movie, Wonder, there is a scene with a school teacher who has his young kids read a precept every morning in class. This one struck me: When choosing to be right or be kind, choose kind.

That has stuck with me in a very conscious manner. Being kind to ALL creatures, is utmost in my heart because we are all connected.

Thank you for the ponderings that stir us.
