Named after President Grover Cleveland’s wife, Frances Folsom Cleveland, the village of Folsom was founded in 1904 at the Alma Post Office by George N. Fendlason. The village grew as a logging community before being incorporated into the State of Louisiana in 1915, and business picked up as more people moved into the flourishing village.

This quaint and cozy village sits among the gentle hills and towering pines of St. Tammany Parish. A community well-known for its luscious plant nurseries and beautiful horse farms, Folsom is dotted with interesting, exotic animal farms with animals like emu and ostrich. The village's hospitable character and country charm delight Folsom residents and visitors alike.

Spend a day riding along the scenic highway or at nearby attractions like Global Wildlife or Sunflower Farm & RanchNature lovers in Folsom can take a break for indoor activities at the St. Tammany Parish Library or the Fendlason Community Center. Small town restaurants offer a nice variety of dining options like steak at Gus's Restaurant, homestyle cooking at Scoops, Southern comfort food at Tessier Gourmet, or a quick bite with coffee at Giddy Up. Relish the simple life in Folsom!

Interesting post, Kim!  I always am curious how a town or landmark received its name and now I know that Folsom is name after President Cleveland's wife.
