Personal & Business Choices Will Happen Soon If You're Mentally Ready!

A New Year’s resolution is not the quick fix. It’s an individual’s awakening that will determine whether this is the time or not. It’s a personal call to action that will either put you on the right track or allow you to run wild with eating and lack of exercising resulting in very poor health with unexpected circumstances arising.

In 4 days, we’ll be witnessing many people “exercising” (no pun intended) their 2019 New Year’s Resolution. Most will focus on getting healthy, and that’s a great choice. Without our good health, we have limited ability to participate and enjoy what life has to offer.

There are some who have no choice in the matter because of horrific accidents or illnesses, but the majority of people across the country are unhealthy at their own choice but have the ability to make better choices.

A New Year’s resolution is not the quick fix. It’s an individual’s awakening that will determine whether this is the time or not. It’s a personal call to action that will either put you on the right track or allow you to run wild with eating and lack of exercising resulting in very poor health with unexpected circumstances arising.

Once you commit and understand the discipline and focus involved, you’ll be on the path to good health. The longer it takes to come to this conclusion, the more difficult it will be to accomplish this task. The older one is, the more difficult to improve metabolism. It’s taken me 4 years to reach my present state.

Working out in the kitchen is the first step.  How we eat will determine the success of our physical work out. The first commitment is adjusting your daily menu. Eliminate grain (my best advice!!)

Once you have a firm handle on your eating habits and you see the numbers on the scale decreasing, join a gym.  Hire a trainer to create some routines for you to follow and improve upon every day. To join a gym and be lost is useless. To eliminate resistance training is a grave error.  Eliminate the aerobics. Read articles on the benefit of resistance training vs aerobics.

My trainer would point out people who have been using treadmills for several years, every day, and look the same.  No improvements to the body. There’s no definition or muscle tone visible.

I’m thankful that the gym opens at an early enough hour to allow the “regulars” to workout, without the distraction of the chatty people. They’ll disappear within a 3 week period, anyway.

Just a quick story from this morning’s workout at the YMCA at 6:00am.  One of the machines was out of place and could not be used.  The member who wanted to use it could not move it on his own. They’re not made to be bounced around. They’re sturdy and must be to hold the weight of heavy men.

He asked the staff member on duty to help him move it. SHE was a thin older female who was in good shape but did not do weight training.  They couldn’t budge it.

Well, this 5’3” 128 pound old lady ran over to help. The staff member knows me and said Barbara’s strong and she stepped back. I gave it a push, and it almost put the guy on his ass.

The two of us maneuvered this piece of equipment with one more shove from me and pull from him.  The moral of this story is weight training WILL keep you small, but it will give you the strength to compete with the best of them!!

We will call this my New Year’s post for 2019….it’s just my thought for the moment!!!
