Exploring Manhattan NY: MoMa

You could consider this a part two to my previous blog post: Brooklyn New York Hidden Gem - Barbès. As shared, on December 30th, 2018, I took a tour of the boroughs in NYC and made specific stops in Manhattan and Brooklyn. This post focuses on my visit to Moma

It's been a year or so since I've returned to MoMa and this was a much needed treat! New exhibits that really caught my attention included Bruce Nauman: Disappearing Acts and Charles White: A Retrospective. The photo you see as the featured image is an installation from the Bruce Nauman's installation. And as for Charles White, I purposely didn't post any photos because you simply need to visit the exhibit for yourself. I will say, his work is mind blowing with his level artistic craftsmanship and messages sent.

Do we have any Lee Bontecou fans? I'm for sure a huge fan and her work has inspired my work. This is an installation of hers called "All Freedom in Every Sense." MoMa does charge for its visits, so be sure to check the official MoMa website directly for updated fees. If you happen to be a New York resident you could pick up a FREE museum pass from your local library.

A quick observation and recommendation for when you are visiting. The whole time I was in MoMa I took 3 photos for blog purposes and than shut my phone down for the remaining visit. It seemed at least 90% of the people were viewing the artwork through their phones. Please, Please, when you visit, its strongly recommended to become present in the very moments that you are there. Walking around the museum, seeing artwork that I rarely get to view was so healing (at least to me). It provoked unexpected new thoughts, creative ideas, deeper inner awareness on what is truly priority for the new year and much more.

Hi Laura.  I have been to the Museum of Modern Art many times in the past.  I must admit to having a challenge about understanding many of the pieces I've seen.
