Economic Development Update for Daytona Beach - Year end 2018

The past few years have been incredible for the Daytona Beach area as far as our economic development outlook is concerned and our local economy. Back in 2014 there were many projects on the horizon and Volusia County was featured in Florida Trends magazine:
"It's easy to see why these are days of opportunity for Volusia County and why it is experiencing
a post recession flurry of investment that will bolster their traditional
economic mainstays of tourism and motorsports".
So where do we stand on those projects that were underway back in 2014? Here's the link to my blog "Daytona Beach Economic Development Update"
*Trader Joes's - Back in 2014 the $88 million dollar food distribution center was under construction. This has been completed.
*One Daytona - $800 Million Mixed Use Entertainment and Retail Mecca has been completed and one of the most popular entertainment areas in Daytona Beach
*Daytona Rising - $400 Million Expansion of the Daytona International Speedway has been completed.
*Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach - Plans changed and then were scraped. Hard Rock changed gears again and bought the old Desert Inn and turned it into a beautiful luxury hotel right on the beach.
*The Sunrail commuter rail service connects Volusia to Metro Orlando from Debary Fl
*Proposed Port Orange Riverwalk - Finally is underway. A new park has been constructed and there is renewed life in this project that seemed stalled for quite some time.
*Protogroup 150M Condo Hotel project is under construction
*Embry Ridde Aeronautical University is continuing with the expansion of their research and technology park
*Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art - Has been completed and is a wonderful addition to our community.
*Streamline Hotel - Iconomic beachside hotel has been completed and is now open.
*Over $775 Million in highway projects are underway and there is consruction throughout the area.
*Tanger Outlet Mall has been completed and a new phase of shopping is under construction along I-95 in Daytona Beach.
*Numerous new home communities are under construction. Buyers lined up to buy in the 55+ community "Latitude Margaritaville" by Jimmy Buffet as well as numerous other new home communities that are finding it hard to keep up with the demand.
*Max Daytona - Luxury Condominiums are now selling in Daytona Beach Shores. Construction has not started.
*The New Bridge being built over the Halifax River will be a real stunner - More photos and info to follow but the new Memorial bridge is currently under construction.
We are seeing expansion and construction throughout Volusia County and these are definitely exciting times for our community and local economy. Jobs reports are very positive and we have been written about in many articles and websites about the positive outlook for our community overall.
