Like many AR bloggers, I like to embed YouTube videos into my posts. But one thing that always annoyed me was the way YouTube would always end your video with the "Up Next" feature. The result is that your reader ends up viewing suggested videos that may not be of interest to them. At one time YouTube would allow you to deselect the "Show Suggestions" option, but not any longer. But even when YouTube changes the options menu, they typically will still support the HTML code hidden inside the embed code.
So I set about to learn how to loop my video so that it stays on the same video that was part of my blog post. It took a little reading and a little experimentation, but I am now able to loop my embedded video.
It is actually quite easy, anyone can do it. Simply take the Original Embed Code that you copy from YouTube and make the following changes
1. Delete the parameter "autoplay;" from your code. It won't be needed and will be redundant. (see red entry).
Original Embed Code
2. Add the following parameters to the code. (0 is off, 1 is on)
&loop=1
&autoplay=1
&playlist=VIDEO_ID (your VIDEO_ID is the number between the word embed/ and before the ?)
Your modified code will look like this:
Modified Embed Code
One other tip: If you choose the "Show player controls" option in your embed code, (or set "controls=1") the reader will be able to pause the video, to suspend the looping
3. Save your post, then Preview it to make sure it looks the way you want.
Below is an example of a video that will autoplay and loop continuously:
I hope this helps make your great AR blog posts even better.
