After all the celebrations of the last two weeks, we are welcoming the silence of the weekend. It was quiet on the freeway as I went into town, this morning. The revelers and tourists are on their way home. It is the time of quiet reflection for many of us.
Meditation is the silence between the thoughts that gives us a feeling of peace and clarity. It is like pausing between breathing in and breathing out. It is the practice of mindfulness. The words of Thich Nhat Hanh express it perfectly.
There are many ways to come back to the here and the now,
to touch life deeply.
But they all involve mindful breathing.
If we're anchored in our mindful breathing,
we can practice anytime.
Thich Nhat Hanh
Mozart had his own interpretation also, many year ago,
The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between.
