Happy New Year Everyone. Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Years Eve. Now it's time to hit the ground running. I always look forward to the new year and love a fresh start and all the new and exiting challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

We've come a long way in the 'BACKYARD' HOME biz since 2016 when the Senate and Assembly Bills were first passed in  Cali.;  Albeit we've been in the Small Home Biz for over three decades. Small home construction be it ground up design build or factory built is our forte. We are pleased to introduce Active Rain, Facebook, Linked in and Bigger Pockets to our exciting and beautiful brand of BACKYARD HOMES aka Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU).

 

Unlike many consulting companies in this fast paced niche we offer much more. We are not just consultants charging outlandish fees to counsel you on your BACKYARD HOME interests and goals. After you spend a lot of money on the counseling where do you go? With contractors maxed to the hilt 6 months to a year out and suffering from an extreme labor shortage a lot of folks will find themselves in search of a contractor who can actually help them full fill their goals.

 

We are a California licensed General & Manufactured Home Contactor, B&C-47 521400, Licensed Manufactured Home Dealer DL1501015, Real Estate Broker 01795582, developer, property manager and investor with over 100 years of combined design, build, construction, factory built housing and real estate development experience. We are a one stop turnkey family owned and operated solution. We also offer solutions to unpermitted and/or non conforming structures i.e. garage conversions, room additions,  exterior structures, ADU's, etc.

I suspect the trend toward backyard homes will only increase as the population ages, and folks wish to keep aging parents close to home.

Definitely a trend! Reverse mortgages will also become a growing trend now that AARP and HUD fixed the used to be issues.

Not just a trend Nevin Williams It's a happening that's here to stay and just getting its baby legs under it. This is evolving from a COTTAGE INDUSTRY (pun intended) to a full fledged GROWTH INDUSTRY.

Dear John,

Very cool. I could see many uses for these. Offices, painting studio, music room, guest quarters, income property. Factory built sounds awesome & possibly cheaper than site-built. In this area, we have factory builders. Mostly in Pennsylvania. Great products.

You are speaking of Tiny Homes? I've seen them on TV and in peoples backyards for kids or aging parents. We haven't seen too much of that in MA

It's an ever evolving growth industy Michael Jacobs and now they're building them even better in factories than they are onsite and with a lot better materials and far less waste.

Not Tiny Homes by definition Doug Dawes. These are small homes no doubt. However, a Tiny Home is not allowed in Cali as they are typically built over a transportable chassis by individuals without any regulation and are therefore un-certifiable as to construction integrity.

Unfortunately there are literally hundreds perhaps thousands of Tiny Homes dotting the landscape with no place to go. They're not a certified HUD or MODULAR Factory Built nor a Recreation Vehicle (RHIA) certified and approved. Thus local jurisdictions are not issueing permits for them for BACKYARD HOME use. 

That stated, I am hearing some chatter in some juridictions about allowing them in certain areas under certain conditions. As the Tiny House Industry becomes more sophisticated and regulated I'm sure there will be some allowances made.
