Whenever I work with potential buyers in the Columbia, South Carolina area, I typically am asked "What is there to do on the weekends?". While Columbia is not a large city in comparison with Charlotte and Atlanta, we have a wide variety of entertainment so that everyone is sure to find something of interest.
This Saturday. my husband and I did one of my favorite Saturday morning activities: we went to Soda City on Main Street. Soda City is a large farmers market that has evolved over the past several years to become very popular with the locals. It is a great opportunity for families, dog lovers, and young people to see local vendors and enjoy delicious food.
An ideal trip to Soda City farmers market for me is to first go by the vegetable and fruit stand. We pick up a box, fill it with all the fresh vegetables and fruits that will fit, then pay only about $10. This week I am particularly excited for the apples I found! The most convenient part is that there are tables set up so that you can leave your box with your name on it and pick it up when done perusing the other stands.
Next we typically either get coffee or walk the length of the market while admiring all the adorable dogs attending with their owners and window shopping. If we go around lunch time we will pick up food from one of the many delicious food trucks in attendance. On Sunny days we tend to stay for a good while both people watching and soaking in the environment. If you ever visit Columbia or our outlying cities (Lexington, Chapin, Irmo, Elgin) this is a great way to spend a Saturday morning as they meet all year round with only occasional exceptions such as hurricane weather. Stay tuned next week for more ideas on how to spend your Saturday in Columbia, SC!
