Downtown Westbury is a melting pot of various restaurants representing many of the residents of this village. There's a kebab house, a Mexican restaurant, a Dominican grill, an Italian restaurant, and many more!
For shopping, you'll have plenty of choices along Post Ave and across the Old Country Road on the southern edge of the Village. There's Walmart, Best Buy, Home Goods, Trader Joe's, Lowe's Home Improvement, Target, and many other stores.
Do you enjoy theaters, concerts, and the arts? The Space at Westbury, a performing-arts center, accommodates artists of all genre and offers great entertainment. If you love history, take a self-guided walking tour starting from the Quaker Meeting House.
This village has several public schools. Prekindergarten and Kindergarten students go to the Dryden Street School. Park Avenue School is for Grades 1 and 2, and Drexel Avenue School and Powells Lane School are for those attending Grades 3-5.
For middle schoolers and high school students, they attend Westbury Middle School and Westbury High School.
There are also several private schools in the village like St. Brigid/ Our Lady of Hope Regional School and Westbrook Preparatory School.
Homes and neighborhoods
You’ll find a variety of homes among the different residential neighborhoods of Westbury. There are single-family homes, condos, and townhomes.
Birchwood Knolls is a residential neighborhood located on the northern section of the village, between State Highway 25 and Northern State Parkway. It is bordered by the Hedges neighborhood on its west and Sherwood Gardens on its east. This neighborhood is composed mostly of single-family homes and 94% of the homes in Birchwood Knolls are occupied by its owners.
Sherwood Gardens is another residential neighborhood where most homes are owned and occupied by owners. This is also a predominantly single-family home neighborhood.
Both Birchwood Knolls and Sherwood Gardens have expenses that are higher than the national average.
Downtown Westbury is the business district of community, with Post Avenue in its center. Charming and welcoming, it was chosen as the winner of the $10 Million Downtown Revitalization Initiative in the Long Island area. This neighborhood offers a variety of home styles. There are townhouses and condos available for sale in the area.
If you’re looking for a neighborhood that’s close to Downtown but with better privacy and a more tranquil vibe, you’ll like Central Westbury. This neighborhood is set on the eastern section of Westbury and borders along New Cassel on the east and Railroad Ave on the south.
