ActiveRain Community Guidelines
By now, everyone should have read the ActiveRain community guidelines.
Our January contest has challenged us to reflect on the Community Guidelines of ActiveRain. The core values outlined by the Founders established the culture of ActiveRain. Those core values enable AR to stay an exceptional community.
These guidelines are pretty simple and much like running a business or living everyday life.
Do what is right, be honest, make others feel good about themselves, help people when you can, educate yourself, educate others, enjoy what you are doing and have some fun.
That sums up the community guidelines.
ActiveRain, with many members, may seem so big that you could not possibly be heard. It may also seem smallish with members who have been here since the beginning... you may feel you don't fit in. I have invited more people than I can keep count. Many have joined and of those, less than a handful are bloggers.
ActiveRain suggests: start off slow, read a bunch of blogs, make comments on posts you find interesting and pretty soon you will feel ready to blog.
Once you start a blog, it is yours. You can write whatever you want from whatever view you want.
There will be people who enjoy your posts, they will want to meet you, they will do business with you and friendships will be formed.
There will occasionally be someone who does not agree with your point of view. How you handle these interactions will speak volumes about you. When you disagree it may be better to write your own post on the subject.
When someone disagrees with you, an option may be to email or call that person and find out what their "beef" is about.
Over the years, I have called at least one member a day...every day. And remember I have been here since 2006. Personal contact with Rainers, professionals, friends, family, nd clients keep the lines of communications open.
We have tremendous respect for this community.
