This past year the Frederick County Association of REALTORS® (FCAR) Board of Directors took on many monumental tasks to chart the course of our Association for the future. In January of 2018 the BOD : President Greg Phillips, Past President Aaron Marsh, President Elect Maureen Nichols, Treasurer Bryant Meldrum, Secretary Amanda Addington, Directors: Kathy Delaquil, Wendy Friend, Filomena Thompson, John Foley and Buzz Mackintosh attended a 3 day retreat in Bedford Springs, Pa to rewrite the Association's strategic plan. The revision focused on making the plan a living document for the BOD to manage association activities, improve communication to members and the public, improving professionalism and membership participation. Also improving the members experience concentrating on advocacy and community service.
After the retreat President Greg Phillips put the plan into action and the pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place.
A new Association Executive was hired in July Hugh Gordon.
A new Communication director was hired in September.
The RPAC goal and participation rate was exceeded which included 15 major investors. This qualified FCAR for the Triple Crown award.
Maryland REALTORS® held a class focused on improving professionalism for FCAR.
The Community Service Committee raised more than $20K to distribute to local charities.
The Legislative Committee was very active testifying on local property rights issues, sign ordinances and also interviewing candidates for County elections.
This short summary of accomplishments doesn't begin to demonstrate the long hours and time put in by the 2018 FCAR BOD who volunteered their time. I would also like to express Kudos to all in the REALTOR® family who volunteer for leadership positions and give back to the industry. It has been a rewarding experience for me participating and getting to know my REALTOR® colleagues and I thank them for volunteering and serving our industry.
