It isn't always about the amount of business you have, it is really, in my view, about the quality of that business. I remember knowing colleagues who had dozens of listings but none ever sold. I somehow knew even in the beginning of my career, that the only thing that really mattered was the number of closed sales I had. 

As I aged and learned from my own experience and from watching others, this was confirmed. I even got to the point when the sellers or buyers were unreasonable, I decided to move away from them. All business isn't good business and that is all I wanted. May your day be productive and happy.

Wise words...in our practice we were very selective as to what listings we took...there was the one that the owner wanted us to market as a horizontal highrise...and we passed.  LOL A

 Good morning Sheila Anderson. When I first got into the real estate business I was in awh of the number of sales people did. I went to a national convention and met an agent who had sold 50 listings more than me. Wow!

 Little did I know that he was known as the park salesman and sold nothing but trailers in mobile home parks. He told me he to never sell  a manufactured home because you can never escape your own success and you will be doing it the rest of your career...

He pointed to another agent who had just won a sales award. This agent had sold her own listing in New York City and made over $125k in the first 2 months of her career. Quantity or quality?

I would say it is never about the amount of business and always about the quality of the business which, interestingly enough, actually results in an increased amount of business.

In my practice, I focus on superior service and communication. If a client becomes unmanageable or is rude, I don't work with them.

I couldn't agree with you more, Sheila.  I have seen agents who were more interested in putting cans on the shelf than the quality of representation they provided.
