Here is some great advice for those of you that are new to the business:

Original content by Gary L. Waters Broker Associate, Bucci Realty BK3064647

Now that I am "retired" there is so much I want to say to new agents!   This is not intended to be a negative "you can't succeed" post but rather a "time to get real and focused" post.

A real estate license isn't a blank check. Not every real estate agent that drives a fancy new car is loaded.

And, believe it or not, your good looks a ticket to success!

First of all, you ain't the "be all to end all!"  Regardless of intellect there are plenty of other smarter players in the business who have been around and survived a lot longer!

Secondly, you ain't the best thing since sliced bread!  Your broker will be hiring you based on your income potential - potential income for the broker primarily.

You will not be hired for your looks (no matter how pretty) nor your fancy dress and style!   To restate my previous point.... You are hired because of income potential for the broker!

Your broker is not going to give away "free training and free leads."  Nothing is free!

There is an expectation of a return on the investment into your career (successful lead conversion).

Real estate is not something where success is just a matter of getting a license and showing up.

Being a member of any organization or networking group will not bring automatic results.  It takes work!

Now the good, or at least better, news...

You have the greatest opportunity before you for a successful real estate career.  Initiative, combined with technology tools, are a great starting point.

Being on ActiveRain is a great beginning.

All those new contacts on Linked In, Facebook, Instagram and whatever are good resources.  But do not forget the skill that has led many to succeed for hundreds of years... face to face interaction and networking.

Lastly, real estate is, much like the street in front of your first listing, a two way street!

Learn to give referrals, respect, yourself time to learn the business....

Real estate isn't that easy. It isn't an automatic pay raise.  It isn't automatic success but....

It is so rewarding!

Wishing you all a very successful, productive and safe 2019!
