Check out the Latest Carlsbad Art Wall Mural

January 2019

The latest Carlsbad Art Wall was painted this past rainy weekend, January 12th and 13th - I sure felt sorry for the artist, but there were moments of no rain and the creation was mostly completed. She notes on her Facebook page she still has a few things to finish on her creation later this month due to the rainy weather, but it's striking nonetheless - I'll post an update when it's finally completed!

The newest wall mural was created by muralist, Annie Preece (aka “Love Annie”), who hails from Los Angeles. In addition to being a painter and muralist, Annie is a comedian and public speaker.

Annie is the first muralist who’s been asked to return to Carlsbad and create new wall art! Interested in what else she does? Check out Annie’s Facebook page and on Instagram.

Carlsbad artist, Bryan Snyder is the brainchild of the Carlsbad Art Wall, now in its 4th year. This project is in cooperation with Senor Grubby’s, a popular Mexican Restaurant in Carlsbad Village, and the collection of murals over the years is impressive.

No doubt you have driven by if you live in the area or have visited Carlsbad. Even if you don’t know the official #CarlsbadArtWall name you no doubt have noticed the changing murals on the east-facing wall on Carlsbad Village Drive, just west of the train tracks.

Carlsbad is known as a growing and changing arts community, with abundant public art (an interactive map). The Carlsbad Art Wall really is a wonderful addition to our expanding and ever-changing arts community, with a new installation several times per year!

Here are some recent Carlsbad Art Wall murals I have enjoyed:

Carlsbad Art Wall October 2018

Carlsbad Art Wall August 2018

Carlsbad Art Wall May 2018

Carlsbad Art Wall March 2018

Carlsbad Art Wall January 2018

I enjoy seeing each new wall mural, and you often see locals and visitors hanging out to watch artists at work – I haven’t done that yet but it’s still something I’d love to do.  What a wonderful idea to have beautiful wall art for a few months, giving residents and visitors plenty of time to enjoy these special, but fleeting, public creations.

The Carlsbad Art Wall is a wonderful opportunity for talented artists to showcase their creativity, and a special addition to our Village by the Sea!

Interesting to know how the artist feel about how fleeting thier art will be and that it will be painted over. A definite challenge to ego. But interesting and good to see the collaboration and the chance for residents to view new art regularly.

Jeff,

That is an amazing work of art.  Fleeting artistic creations began with the mandala that Buddhist monks create, followed by chalk art...A

Looks like a fun mural leading up to Valentine's Day. I am sure this is constantly a scene stealer in the area.

Thanks for stopping by Grant Schneider  I enjoy how this wall changes every few months, and there is such variety! A great addition to the art scene in our town.

That's an interesting point Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543  and no doubt some artists who paint walls would not want such a short exposure time. And I would think what you would paint and the time involved would be impacted. There's another wall mural in town that I particularly like and I think it must be 4 or 5 years old now.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel  - I love that thought! I like the whole idea of public art, fleeting or otherwise.

Hi Joe Pryor

It certainly grabs your attention driving down the road, and every now and then I see people taking photos when I have driven by.
