The City of Gaithersburg is seeking the next Junior Mayor

 

Fourth graders in Gaithersburg are encouraged to write essays telling us what they would do if they were mayor. The theme this year is "Together We Can." Students are asked to identify an issue, propose a solution, and explore how people can best work together to address it. Five finalists will be invited to a video interview, with the winner being selected as Gaithersburg's next Junior Mayor. Click here for entry details. The submission deadline is March 1.

This is a great project for school-aged kids.  It gets them involved and also thinking about solutions to problems that they see.
