Motivational Thoughts 1/19/19

MOVING IS EMOTIONAL

Here is an important truth. For as exciting as a move is, it is also a roller coaster ride, filled with emotions! All of us have things that we struggle with and things that at times seem to overwhelm us. Moving is no exception. These are the times when buyers need strength, courage, and the power to make rational and realistic decisions. Focusing on needs take time. How individuals respond to change can impact their quality of life. It is crucial for buyers to have the right licensed agent to build a relationship with. You just can't build relationships with images, algorithms, or technology alone. Only humans experience true emotions.

When it comes to the most expensive investment in your life, proper guidance by trained and experienced professionals licensed to do the business makes a difference. MLS photos may be nice, but you can't judge a book by a cover, nor a house by its photos. Information is necessary. But is it the right information to make an informed decision? The news media tends to focus more on the negative. Advertisements can be seductive. Having the right information is critical. To everyone who buys a home, it is expensive. Taking your values into consideration and knowing who you can trust, i.e., someone with credibility, a heart, mind, and soul who is invested in selling real estate for all the right reasons makes all the difference.

Time is a factor. It takes more than 30 minutes to look at three homes and make a decision. Investments take time. Real Estate Agents are not paid, actors in the entertainment world. To become a licensed agent, be self-employed, and stay in the business is the most expensive investment in an agent's life. Experienced agents know moving is an emotional experience and most consumers are walking into unchartered territory. Moving is an emotional experience. When making a move, remember, it is a body, mind, and soul that moves you to make the right decisions. Have a heart - hire a sales agent who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®

Hello Patricia - with a range of emotions, proper preparation is one aspect of a real estate transaction that needs attention.  Be prepared!

Michael Jacobs - I agree! The reality is, with the number of people involved in the move within the family unit, there is also a multitude of emotions flowing. It is quite an experience all the way around.

Thanks for your comment. It's always great to hear from you.

Patricia,

Although we heartily agree that moving can be very emotional, let alone traumatic, I would disagree that a membership in NAR is a pre-requisite to hiring someone.  I have met pros in every profession who did not have memberships in the equivalant of NAR, and they were brilliant, ethical, and everything one could want.  We have known quite a few members of NAR who spent time in jail because of their schemes.  There are no guarantees based on membership in my oh, so, very humble opinion....A

Well said...and so important to highlight that interpretive function of a real estate agent.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I hate the thought of the insinuation that my membership in NAR puts me into the same category of people you know who spent time in jail. I'm appalled. When it comes to ethics, I take that very seriously. I live by the Golden Rule. The reality is, we never met. I hardly know you other than someone else on AR. I hope others who read my blog here on ActiveRain don't get the wrong impression of me.

Moving is an emotional roller coaster even if it's for good reasons like moving up in the world. How hard it must be for those moving due to bankruptcy, divorce, a natural disaster or what ever. No matter the circumstance one wants a pro on their side Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP whether they are NAR or not.

Oh, this would make a wonderful flyer for buyers, Patricia! You're so right - it IS an emotional roller coaster and when there is someone with experience, heart and the credentials to guide clients properly, the process is SO much less stressful.

Happy Saturday!
