Why Didn't I Think Of This Before?

This wouldn't work for most of my home loan document signings. However, for the signings I do within a few miles of my home office, I've decided to leave a my notary business card with the home loan clients. One of my soapbox issues is having a secondary source of income in case the bottom ever falls out of my business. A great source of outside business could come from home loan clients who may use notaries in their day-to-day business.

What got me thinking about this is my appointment for tomorrow morning. I happen to know that they use notary publics all the time. I didn't give them my card last time, but you better believe I'm making a pitch to them at our document signing in the morning to give me a call next time they need a notary.

The reason this won't work for most of our clients is that most of them are 20 miles or more away. It wouldn't be cost effective to drive out for one or two signatures.

I may be the last notary on earth to think of this. However, just in case somebody else hasn't thought of it, I thought I should pass it along. Thanks for reading.

We often over look sources of business or wish we had responed in a different fashion. Think of it as practice and you are getting better.

Good idea -- I know people never know where to find a notary when they need one.  Good to get your names out there.

I've always left my card at loan signings. I usually give them two, I tell them the second is to pass on. But what I've found is that the majority of my repeat business comes from clients that have found me on the web for general notarizations.

I always leave business cards at every signing I ever do.  When I do general public notarizations I also leave business cards and pass them around as I leave the building. No one is safe from my "business card." LOL

I never pass up an opportunity to pass out my card. I do get repeat calls. If it turns out to be a general notarization that is not worth my time, I still provide excellent customer service by referring the caller to a local UPS. I also use this opportunity to educate the caller as to when my service can be a value to them.
