Zims will always hold a special place in my heart because Jonathan and I spent a lot of time there during the first year after Jonathan was born. We lived in New Meadows, a small and quiet town about 20 minutes past McCall, and we went to swim and play in the natural hot springs several times a week.
Since then, Michael and I have been to Zims a few times over the years, but have never driven to McCall specifically to go to Zims and make a day out of it. So, here’s a bit about how our day went, and of course, I had to add it to the list of Boyle's Boise: 52 Things to Do and See.
Zims Hot Springs features two outdoor pools that are fed by natural mineral water from an artesian well that is cooled by the waters of the Little Salmon River and treated with chlorine. The outdoor soaking pool maintains a temperature range of 103 – 106 degrees, while the outdoor swimming pool ranges between 90 – 100 degrees. In addition to two outdoor pools, Zims also has a snack bar, restrooms, a picnic area, campgrounds, a bike path, RV park, RV dump area, campsites, locker rooms and overnight camping available.
