The development of Lido Beach Dunes was arranged by former New York Senator William Reynolds during the 1920's. A real estate developer, William Reynolds is also often referred to as the "father" of Long Beach, NY. At one point, his property extended from present day Allevard Street in Lido Beach all the way to Point Lookout. He had grand visions of making the Long Beach NY area into a "Riviera of the East."
