The Lido Beach Dunes neighborhood in Lido Beach, NY is a charming section designated on the town map as the Lido Beach Park District. Also known as the Lido Dunes, the area extends from Allevard Street to Prescott Street, on the south side of Lido Boulvard. The area is under the political jurisdiction of the Town of Hempstead and belongs to the Long Beach City School District.
The development of Lido Beach Dunes was arranged by former New York Senator William Reynolds during the 1920's. A real estate developer, William Reynolds is also often referred to as the "father" of Long Beach, NY. At one point, his property extended from present day Allevard Street in Lido Beach all the way to Point Lookout. He had grand visions of making the Long Beach NY area into a "Riviera of the East."
Today, Lido Beach Dunes remains one of the best places to live in New York. With a little over 3000 residents in Lido Beach, this neighborhood offers peaceful beach living without being too far away from New York City. From Lido Beach Dunes, commuting by car to Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx or Staten Island takes about an hour one way. There is also the Long Island Railrod from Long Beach, just 15 minutes way from Lido Beach Dunes.
