Favorite Game Day Chili Recipes

By

On cold days, there's no better way to warm up than with a steaming bowl of chili! So when it comes to game day, chili is the perfect food to serve!

I love making a big pot of chili because it's an inexpensive way to feed a crowd. There are countless variations of chili, several ways to dress it up or down, and it's hearty comfort food that almost everyone seems to enjoy.

Over the years, I've made several different types of chili, and I've come to appreciate each one for its uniqueness. I used to make chili primarily on my stove top or in my slow cooker. These days, I almost always use my Instant Pot for making chili. I love using a pressure cooker for chili because it cooks much faster, yet tastes like it's simmered all day!

Making chili in the Instant Pot allows you to enjoy tasty food without hovering over a pot on the stove--which frees you up to watch the game!

Favorite Game Day Chili Recipes

Today I'm sharing some of my favorite Instant Pot chili recipes. If you don't have an Instant Pot, these can all be made on the stove top as well, but if you do have an Instant Pot, it definitely simplifies the process and speeds things up a bit!

Classic Chili in the Pressure Cooker

This is a delicious, homestyle chili rich in flavor and chock full of beef, beans, and tomatoes.  It's a spinoff of my mom's chili that she made when I was a kid, and it's incredibly delicious!  With an Instant Pot cook time of just 15 minutes, this chili is much faster than the slow-simmered versions of old.

White Chicken Chili in the Pressure Cooker

This super easy chili requires only four ingredients, lending proof to the theory that sometimes the best recipes are the simplest.

All you need is chicken, white beans, broth, and some good salsa to whip up a batch of this healthy and delicious chili!  And once again, it cooks in mere minutes in the Instant Pot.  Definitely a game day win!

Pressure Cooker BBQ Chicken Chili

This smoky sweet chili is an incredibly delicious and unique variation that is sure to please your crowd!

I love serving this along with some skillet cornbread--so good!

Sweet Potato Chili in the Instant Pot

If you need a vegetarian chili option, this is your golden ticket!  Tender sweet potatoes, parsnips, and carrots add so much hearty flavor to this chili, you'll never miss the meat.

It's a good-for-you game day food you can feel good about!

Cincinnati (Skyline) Chili in the Instant Pot

I never knew Cincinnati had their own style of chili until I met my husband, who grew up there.  Cincinnati chili has a distinct flavor that involves cinnamon and cocoa, and it's most often served over a bed of spaghetti and topped with cheese.

If you're looking for something a little out-of-the-ordinary (or maybe it's completely ordinary to you if you're from Cincinnati!), I think you'll enjoy this homemade version.

Something for Everyone

No matter which option you choose, these chili variations are great for serving on game day!

Pair a hot bowl of chili with a grilled cheese sandwich or corn chips, top it with some shredded cheese or sour cream or your toppings of choice, and you're all set for the big game!
