Sabino Canyon

HikingI love hiking! When I lived in New Mexico I used to go hiking at least once a month and considered it something that was vital to my happiness. When I was moving to Tucson I thought that hiking would have to be something I would be giving up because I was under the impression that the desert around Tucson was just miles of flat land studded with saguaro cactus's, but boy was I wrong!

After I had lived here for a few months I was feeling really disconnected from the natural world so one of my co-workers told me about a hike she went on at Sabino Canyon and thought it might be something I would enjoy doing. So I gathered a few of my friends and planned a hiking day and I am so glad I did!

Sabino CanyonTo start out with, the Sabino Canyon hiking trails are located right outside of Tucson City limit. When I would go hiking in New Mexico it was always at least a 40-minute drive to get to the closest national forest and it was a day long activity. Any food or drinks that we wanted needed to be carried in and once we were gone for the day we wouldn’t be heading home until night fall. Here, it is so close there are housing communities located out about a 5-minute drive from the entrance to the forest, but you would never know while actually hiking. It offers the convenience of being very close to the city with the seclusion you expect from being out in nature.

To enter the park is only a 5.00 fee or you can get an annual pass for 20.00. I definitely recommend getting the annual pass because there is so much to see and do here I can almost guarantee that you will be back more than 4 times a year.

The actual trails themselves have different difficulty levels and different distances so if you are bringing elderly people or small children or just don’t particularly want a challenging hike they have those options available. My favorite trails is an 8 mile round trip hike out to the 7 falls, which is a beautiful waterfall with 7 different levels of pools that can be explored and played in which is prefect for those hot Arizona summer days.

Sabino Canyon Beside River

I have walked this trail multiple times in the 3 years I have lived here and love it more and more every time I go. The trail runs parallel to a river most of the way so you are surrounded by green trees and vegetation, and you almost forget you are in the middle of the desert!

The trails also have a visitor center with a gift shop and bathrooms if you don’t want to be to removed from the luxuries of indoor plumbing. My only drawback is that the trails can be a little crowded depending on what time of the day you go and if you go on a weekend but if you want something more secluded there are other areas of the Coronado Natural Forest (where Sabino Canyon is located) that are a little harder to get to but as a result less populated and can really help you get away from it all.

If you are an avid outdoorsy and are thinking of moving to Arizona I am telling you that Tucson has the most convenient blend of city living and natural beauty I have been able to find.

I love to hike also but typically do it out of state. I am wondering why you identify yourself here as a short sale specialist. I would thinbk your market is more of a private owner with equity place.
