Weltanschauung (The Big "W") ~ Guiding Principles
I re-read all 10 guiding principles of the big "W". I still believe that the following principles resonate with me loudly.
1. We understand that the value of the ActiveRain community rests entirely with its members.
We really need to give lots of credit to the Ambassadors of our platform. Many of these members don't have the title but are still considered Ambassadors to me. Ambassadors are here to educate and pass on their considerable knowledge of their expertise and niche service. I respect their role and have learned a lot. I have two examples below.
If you are looking to learn about real estate or a niche you might want to pursue, there is no better way to get information than to read the blogs from these highly successful people. They are here to help us.
Without our ambassadors who help promote the "CG" "W" as well as the moderators of each group, we would not be the professional community we are today. Our ambassadors and moderators promote engagement through contests and challenges, just like this "January Blog Booster 2019". This is a perfect example of how the community gives back to us.
Not only does it help motivate us to start the year off with a bang after the holidays, many of the contests remind us of what we need to do to be successful in business.
One more key point, keep it fun! Let's face it, engagement with others including the quips, make reading the comments very enjoyable. I also enjoy the photography as many of you may know!
5. We believe that the constructive dialog at ActiveRain fosters transparency among consumers about the industry.
With a powerful platform such as ActiveRain, we all need to be advocates "in demonstrating the integrity and professionalism engaged in our industry." We do that most importantly by our interaction with others. But also, our words in our blog posts need to mirror the "CG" and "W". We want engagement from consumers. Colleagues and consumers read our blogs and they form judgments from what they read.
10. ActiveRain believes that it is in the best interests of real estate professionals to build a community that is focused on educating one another.
My First Blog
I went back to see when I created my first blog. (I have done this a few times). The date was April 15th, 2012. It was a blog on my very first listing! It appears that I cut and pasted what I wrote for the marketing portion of the MLS. No picture - NOTHING ELSE! Talk about how far I have come with my skill. YIKES! I did get one comment and never even responded to it. I was embarrassed but I realize now that you don't know what you don't know! I learned every skill about blogging right here in ActiveRain. I am proud of that. I consider ActiveRain members part of my professional family.
I went back to that ActiveRain person who left that comment and posted a message for her on what had happened. I thanked her for being the first person who ever gave me a comment and how much I appreciated the gesture. This is what number ten is all about in my point of view!
What I Have Learned About Blogging
Here is a link to a listing I sold back in 2018. The blog post was written November 10th, 2017. See if you agree that I have learned from all of you on ActiveRain! One of the reasons I have committed to being more active on the Rain.
Committing To Video
2018 was the year I was going to do a better job with my videos. Coincidentally, that is when I started following Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD and "YouTube Thursdays". If you want to improve your video presence, I highly recommend you follow Debb and Bernie.
Putting My Face In Front Of The Camera...
I finally put my own face in a couple of videos in 2018. Here is one of them and some bloopers. Full disclosure as most of you know, my husband helps with all of this and all of my marketing.
This blooper reel has an "Intro" and "Outro". Awhile ago, I wouldn't have known what either one of those words meant!
A Final Thought...
I appreciate positive and inspirational feedback and I want to give that back to the community. I am frustrated when I do not have time to start my day with an hour of commenting on ActiveRain. I love reading about others success and ideas as well as best practices. You all keep me motivated to continue my journey in my passion ....real estate!
Thank you all!
