Inspirational thoughts for 1/29/19

"There are moments when all anxiety and stated toil

are becalmed in the infinite leisure and repose of nature"

Henry David Thoreau

DAFFODILS: They are sprouting from the ground at my listing in Flower Mound!

TULIPS: Will follow the daffodils.

GREEN-WINGED INSECTS INSECTS: One was crawling on my windshield yesterday!

CONCERTA Robin Gathering and Songbird concert took place this morning outside my Office window!

WOODY WOODPECKER: The redhead was pecking next door!

Signs of spring are lovely to see, hear, taste and smell. I had fresh oranges for breakfast this morning and the sun shines down on me. Having five senses is a gift often taken for granted. Our ears are an important listening device and even though the birds outside my window are untouchable, whether they are audible or not, I can feel them! Our senses are more valuable than we realize and missed when it isn't there. I don't really know for sure if spring has officially arrived in Flower Mound, TX for good, or are they just escaping the Northern winds and freezing temperatures, but I am greeting them, will feed them, and appreciate them for those who can't.

Nature is autonomous and outside of the scope of human settings. We cannot control the weather! The ground is blessed by sun and rain and even though winter weather can be a pain, it is a wonder with ice sculptures. Taking careless changes on ice is not nice but on a pair of ice skates or a sled can be fun! Always look at the good!

We are awaiting a winter storm, but so far only rain, however temperatures are expected to fall and snow is supposed to gather on the ground. But, it always looks fresh after a snow fall, and the house is warm, so we will enjoy a book and a nice dinner.

I love Thoreau's quote, Patricia.  I always look at this time of year as a time of hope and new beginnings!

Patricia those early signs of Spring must be encouraging.  It will be a couple of more months before the daffodils start popping up around here.

I love the signs of Spring, the weather here is so perfect, not too hot and not too cold, just right.  It's official, I will be traveling to Texas for a wedding in April.  We will be in Decatur, TX the weekend of the 13th, we will have to figure out a way to meet.

Patricia, reading your post gives me hope that spring will start to show signs here soon too. We had a little snow last night and the grey days winter delivers are not my favorite. I cannot wait for spring!

We have a good day on the way, and the bird activity makes me think it's Spring. However, the weather folks are calling for another blast of cold air and a slight chance for a dusting of snow soon. Whatever happens weather-wise, as you state, we can't control it. Best to try to enjoy the moments we are given.

Hello Patricia - the signs of an upcoming  season or an important event often make a "coming soon" announcement.  Maybe it's a trick or simply letting us know what's on the horizon ahead.

Patricia, I love the snow and to watch it fall. Not so much, once the snow stops and it is on the ground waiting to melt.  We have some snow, just a covering and as I look out my office window, I enjoy the beauty.... but, not so much the cold temps we are having. I do love all the seasons and look forward to Spring for sure.

OH my goodness, I am delighted to see a few little signs here too, Patricia - that means it's NEAR! WooHoo! Ray and I were talking about how many more birds we are seeing these last few days than in recent months. I can't wait for spring!

Debe Maxwell, CRS - I noticed on Sunday morning grass was starting to grow in different spots around Flower Mound! Whether it is grass or weeds, it sure is a pretty color green!!!

As for birds, I am thrilled with all the new sounds I'm hearing! I can't wait for spring either! Enjoy the beauty of the next season of growth and opportunity!
