The Flatiron District is a neighborhood in New York City, named after the famous Flatiron Building (one of the oldest skyscrapers in Manhattan) at 23rd Street, Broadway, and Fifth Avenue. The Flatiron District boundaries are 20th Street, Union Square and Greenwich Village to the south; the Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue) or Seventh Avenue and Chelsea to the west; 25th Street and NoMad to the north; Rose Hill to the northeast, and Lexington Avenue/Irving Place, Gramercy Park to the east.

Broadway cuts through the middle of the district. At the north end of the neighborhood is Madison Square Park, and also includes the Ladies' Mile Historic District and the birthplace of Theodore Roosevelt, which is a National Historic Site. The Flatiron District is steeped in history, while also remaining an active and vibrant neighborhood.

The skyline of the Flatiron neighborhood includes some of the most famous buildings in Manhattan including the Met Life Tower, built in 1909 and the tallest building in the world until 1913. The 700-foot marble clock tower of the Met Life Tower cannot be missed. There’s also the New York Life Building, built in 1928 and capped off with a striking gilded pyramid. Baruch College of the City University of New York has campuses here in the Flatiron neighborhood, including the Newman Vertical Campus as well as the Zicklin School of Business. The New School and New York University have campuses here as well. The area also houses the Museum of Sex and the Gershwin Hotel, the latter of which features some of the art and memorabilia of Andy Warhol throughout the hotel.

The energy of the area is reflected in the real estate choices. Residents enjoy everything the City has to offer at their doorstep, with diverse restaurants, ample shopping and close proximity to subways as well as the Union Square Park area and all it offers. Walk to the Farmer’s Market, enjoy everything Madison Square Park has to offer or check out the Flatiron Partnership’s website for things to do. The Flatiron neighborhood is the epitome of an active and energetic New York City community.
