Pondering The Power of NO

Releasing Your Two-Year Old Self

I am not a parent but I have been a two-year old:  a long time ago mind you so I can kinda relate.

And I know people.  People who either currently have or who have had two-year olds in their life.

So in some way I could be like Jane Goodall observing the subjects in their own environment.  Yeah, kinda.

Two-Year Olds In Our Midst.

I ponder and then I digress.

Casual observations show that the subjects seem to have mastered some rather basic skills that I believe could come in quite handy in everyday life.

That's the power of "No".  It can be spoken quietly.  Loudly too.  It can be used repeatedly.   You know like No.  NO.  NO!  And it seems to be quite powerful.  It can build confidence if that is needed

And remember:  Two-Year Olds have likely been using this tactic long before Nancy Reagan proclaimed it.  It's time for that Next Opportunity.  Be more like a two-year old.  Well, in some ways.

Beth Atalay -  a dream child - evidence???

Alexandria Ron and Alexandra Seigel -- Hell on Wheels -- I can see that happening. Especially no problem standing up for oneself.

Sheila Anderson - some things are good to forget but the power of NO is a good one to remember. In the right time.  And in the right place.

Great message, Michael Jacobs ... and very cute way of getting it across!  Having become a grandparent fairly recently to 3 cuties, I can tell you that you're right ... 2 year olds have NO problem saying no repeatedly.   I can learn something from them and your message here ...

Hi Michael Jacobs - Up until last year I had a vague recollection of the terrible twos.  My grandson hit 3 yesterday.  Yeah!  He is much better. I associate that with tantrums!

Too funny!  My youngest grandson will be 2 in April and I'm sure my daughter inTexas could respond here.  Having been around a LOT of 2 year olds, I wish I had their freedom :)

Wise words from a wise man and I am proud to call you a friend!  Throwing tantrums like a 2 year old should not be released as an adult, haha.

Michael, we do need to keep this small word in our vocabulary, and use it when someone sounds too much to handle.   We don't need more stress in our lives with clients that are a pain!

Oh yes, the 2 year old child's favorite word, NO!  I'm getting better at saying this word. I used to let people kind of push me around - thought I had to be nice, no matter what. That's not the case, I've learned. No, no it's not. Happy pondering, Michael.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS -- gaining insight from your grandchildren is a good thing.  As far as the Industry Observer, that occurred in late 2018 while I wait to hang my license elsewhere.

Brian England - some two-year old activities are much better than others.

Ohhh Michael Jacobs ...the terrible twos...some little tykes go through it more violently than others (yes violently). So much to be learned from a two year old in learning to get your way..manipulation at its best..they have the word No down pat..know when to use it and when it will be most effective..in so many different tones.

Two year olds can be a lot to handle. They master the art of taking control.

I've had the great blessing of loving many two year olds and currently my little Henry. Two is not the "terrible" people would have you believe. It only seems like it some of the time. LOL

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR -- you speak with authority for Canyon Creek Area Real Estate and for the terrible two's.  Not necessarily together.

Sharon Tara -- two-yearolds might be able to use the marketing skills of a good public relations firm.
