TAR WINTER MEETINGS - AUSTIN, TX
The Texas Association of REALTORS® Winter Meetings began on Friday in Austin. I captured this view looking out the window from the Hyatt Regency looking out at Lady Bird Lake, a river-like reservoir designed in 1960. Whatever inspired the architects that engaged both the skyscrapers and the landscaping on the banks of the lake must have represented something unique in their history in time. As you can tell by my photograph some construction building technology is defined by a steady continuum.
EDUCATION & TRADITION
When it comes to maintaining a Texas Real Estate License, agents are rooted in education with continuous education. While there are many new agents in the business, there are many who were born long before Lady Bird Lake and her skyscrapers were erected. According to NAR (National Association of REALTORS®) statistics, there were 1,368,530 Texas Agents, members of NAR as of November 2018. Over 1,000 agents were at the Winter Meetings and the numbers can change as the meetings continue. It is a proud feeling to be counted.
WHAT GOES ON AT WINTER MEETINGS
Agents attend various meetings that may include Budget & Financing, Professional Development, PAC Nominating Committee, Board of Director meetings, Membership Users Group, Professional Standards Training, Networking, Political Involvement Committee, Diversity Committee, Professional Development Committee, Membership Benefits Committee, Real Estate Panel Forums, Global Committees, Real Estate Center Advisory Committee, Global Forum, the Reception, Leasing & Property Management Forum, Education Subcommittee, Risk Reduction Forum, Technology Forum, Issues Mobilization Committee, TEXAS Faculty Meeting, Housing Initiatives Forum, Strategy Committee, YPN Committee, Government Affairs Committee, and many other business meetings. FROM MY PERSPECTIVE
Just as the architectural windows in my photograph are detail oriented, I find a shared value with the attendees at the TAR Winter Meetings who would spend time and money to make continuous educational improvements and work hard to become more proficient and efficient in being detailed oriented in all aspects of the business' we run.
