I have been undergoing a huge marketing campaign consisting of 3,000 homes in Santa Rosa, California, all of this marketing is old fashioned farming. I must admit that at first I was concered about results. Would this be a huge waste of time?
As it turns out it couldn't be better. I farm a section everday meeting people through door knocking, or people out about the neighborhood. If no one is home I leave marketing material there for them to review when they get home. It has brought interested buyers, sellers, and people just interested in market trends. It has been a win on the business front.
On a personal note this farming blitz has been effective on a fitness level and a family level. All the walking (some up and down mountains) has been great daily exercise. I also include my children in this adventure. On the weekends I put my baby in the stroller, and pack my teenager up with flyers and off we go. It gets them out in the fresh air, gives them exercise, and I hope in the end it will teach them that hard work is its own reward. The sense of completing a task that you put your mind to has also been a sense of accomplishment for my teenager.
All an all....a win - win situation. I encourage all my fellow Realtors with children to strap on those shoes and take your kids for a walk.
