I never really believed in this kind of stuff but every once in awhile something happens at my house and try as I do, I just can't get it. Last night, the lock fell of of my garage side door. All the pieces were there and I tried for almost an hour and couldn't get it. It will snow later and so I had to call the locksmith. I hate when this happens.
So my friends here have reminded me it is just a matter of knowledge and not sex. Sorry in my frustration I forgot.
No worries about sex type, I possess zero mechanical skills so I always hire out.

Hi Carol. I did call a pro. It took him about 30 seconds to fix the fallen lock but while he was here I had him look at another and it was replaced. Sheila
Very true, sex really does not determine anything. Knowledge often does. Which is why I admire so many women who know so much more than me.

My father in law and his brothers were clueless when it came to fixing anything, and it was a joke in the family. Ron is good at some things, and I am at other things...I can fix a sprinkler system and install one also. We both know when it is time to call in a pro...just ask Apple Care. LOL A

I feel your pain, Sheila! As a strong woman, I have always reasoned that I could do most anything a guy could do, unless it required a lot of strength. Even then, I've managed a few times with pullies, etc. However, it isn't always a guy vs. gal thing. It's about who has the knowledge and skill. And, no, the Internet does not have all the answers!

Thanks Myrl. The guy was here for the dropped lock about 30 seconds. Fortunately I had him look at another lock that leads to my deck from the inside that was loose. He replaced that one too so I'm ahead of the game and averted a big problem. TY Sheila
Hi Sheila - the way I look at it is that it's not that I can't, it's that I don't have an interest in doing something...like fixing a car! I'm sure I could if I had an interest in it but I don't!!

Oh my gosh, I SO feel your frustration, Sheila! You know, I'm the chief cook, bottle washer, plumber and electrician in my house too. It's not that we're too proud to call, it's that we WANT to be able to do it and not have to phone anyone for help. At least that's how I am!
Lately, I've found myself phoning my contractor simply because of the time factor...and it kills me but, they drive me nuts if I don't get them off of my list! LOL
