How to Increase your Home Selling Chances During Winter

Real Estate Agent

Winter is usually not a season for many potential buyers to hunt for a house if you do not live in a very warm area.  Bad weather makes the house look dreary and also the commute for the buyers to check out your property can really discourage them from even visiting your house. If you can wait for the winter to pass and put your house on the market mid-February or later based on your geography, it is always better but if you are in a hurry and cannot wait that long then we have listed a few useful tips below which will increase your chances of selling the house.

1. Make Your Home Winter Ready:

Before you put your house on the market, make sure that your house is a comfortable place to live in both winter and the summer. You need to have a good HVAC system for it and if you already do, then get it serviced by a trusted company like - Anytime Heating and cooling Atlanta. Also, you need to get your basement, chimney, and fireplace cleaned as well for the winters.

2. Make the Exterior Look Good:

Clean up the path by clearing all the leaves and shoveling all the snow from the path. Make sure your house is painted from the outside and looks good before you put your house on the market.

3. Light Up the House:

During winter, the outside is dark and cold. You need to make your home bright and warm hence add extra lights to the house if needed as natural light will not be sufficient during winter. Use of bright lights makes the house look bigger hence make sure to switch on all the lamps, light up the fireplace and adjust the heater to a comfortable temperature. This will make your house look less dreary and more lively encouraging the buyer to consider placing a offer.

4. De-clutter the House:

Get rid of things which are useless or do not belong in the house to make the house look cleaner and clutter free. This will make the house look bigger and brighter which will encourage the buyers to bid for the house.

5. Clean the House Thoroughly:

Clean every corner of the house, vacuum the carpets, wash the windows, shine the hardware fittings, clean the kitchen, polish the kitchen counters, etc. Your house needs to sparkle so that the buyer is convinced that the house is in a good condition.

6. Make a Reasonable Contract:

The buyer may be be concerned as testing the air conditioning and the pool (if available) during winter is not possible. You can be creative to add a clause in the contract to let the buyer inspect these in summer and if there are any issues, you will cover the repair. This will let the buyer trust you and make the buyer much comfortable to consider buying your house now vs. after the winter.

Selling a house is never easy. be it any season but if you follow these recommended steps, we guarantee you that the chances of your house being sold this winter is quite on the higher side.
