The Heart is a fascinating organ which is uniquely capable of providing the utmost of strength and the tendeness of Love in its perfect place, the Center of our bodies.
It works constantly to keep us alive and is barely perceptible while doing so until it begins to fail. It beats to the activity, and emotions we sense and feel every day of our lives. Today we can enjoy our heart shaped candy, cards and cut out shapes. Celebrate your Love!
While hiking in Alaska many years ago we had set up our tent, ate dinner and readied ourselves for the following day's adventure. This was a long journey with several weeks of excursions into the wilderness totaling eight months or so. The further we were from civilization and its constant man-made noise the louder my heart beat seemed to be. At night in the silence it seemed to lose its rhythm somehow. Exhausted from the daily hikes through the Brooks Range and throughout the state the non-rhythnic beats each evening became worrysome until one night. I mentiond it to my friend and he said he too had the same sensation. We deterrmined that the unusual pounding sounds was not from our hearts alone but included the sounds of each others too. That deafening silence at night above the Arctic Circle was now a most interesting noise both eerie and comforting at the same time. The Beat Goes On!
Your heart's day-to-day health may not be a frequent concern, however, Valentine's Day may be the ideal opportunity to stop and think about it if only for a moment.
